Module 6 in the course Open Science in the Swedish Context

This module examines how current evaluation practices—often centered on traditional bibliometrics—affect researchers and their careers. It explores why these systems are being challenged, what changes are underway in Sweden and internationally (including the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment, CoARA), and how responsible metrics can support more holistic and fair evaluation. The module also highlights the importance of sharing and citing all research outputs and discusses the role of Sweden’s largest research funder, Vetenskapsrådet, in shaping funding review processes and advancing Open Science practices.
